Varalakshmi provided food packets and water bottles to such migrant workers who were travelling to West Bengal from Chennai. The actress wrote that her Save Shakthi Foundation, along with its helpers, provided 1600 migrant workers with 3 chapatis, bottle of water and snickers. The lockdown due to COVID-19 pushed the migrant workers of Tamil Nadu to move to their native places, the Indian Railways arranged special trains for them. However, she has also been involved in other social work through the foundation. The actress founded Save Sakthi to fight against sexual harassment of women. Amidst the COVID-19 lockdown situation, many migrant workers were sent back to their native cities by special trainsĪctress Varalakshmi Sarathkumar who made her debut with Poda Podi (2012) alongside actor Simbu turned into a social activist through her Save Sakthi Foundation in 2017.
